Jonas Hagman appointed new CEO of EasyMining

Jonas Hagman

Jonas Hagman has been appointed as the new CEO of Ragn-Sells’ innovation company EasyMining. Jonas joins from a long career within Perstorp and succeeds Jan Svärd, who, after 10 years as CEO, will take on a role as Senior Advisor.

“EasyMining is a highly exciting company that has developed a range of innovative circular solutions for producing critical raw materials from waste. I now look forward to working together with all the EasyMining employees to make these technologies available to companies worldwide,” says Jonas Hagman.

EasyMining, a fully owned subsidiary of the Ragn-Sells Group, is an innovation company that develops, designs and builds processes to produce pure, commercial products from waste. Its core consists of three patented technologies for nutrient recovery: Ash2Phos for phosphorus, Aqua2N for nitrogen, and Ash2Salt for potassium.

Together with the German utility company Gelsenwasser, EasyMining is currently building the world’s first Ash2Phos plant for recovery of phosphorus from waste in Schkopau, Germany. The plant is planned to be commissioned in 2027.

“Jonas Hagman brings extensive and solid experience in establishing and operating industrial facilities in various locations around the world. We are very pleased that he will continue to develop and strengthen EasyMining’s expansion, especially at a time when we are close to inaugurating the world’s first Ash2Phos plant for phosphorus recovery in Germany,” says Madeleine Ljunggren, Acting Group CEO of Ragn-Sells.

EasyMining was founded in 2007 based on research by, among others, Yariv Cohen, and is today fully owned by the environmental company Ragn-Sells. Jan Svärd was appointed CEO in 2016 and has developed the company from a start-up into an established player with approximately 70 employees in Sweden and Germany. He will continue to support EasyMining in his new role as Senior Advisor.

“The world has an enormous need to scale up the recycling of critical raw materials, particularly those that directly affect global food security. I am proud that EasyMining contributes so strongly to this and look forward to handing over the baton to Jonas,” says Jan Svärd.

Jonas Hagman has a career spanning more than 20 years within Perstorp, a wholly owned subsidiary of PETRONAS Chemicals Group Berhad, most recently in the role of VP Operations & Supply Chain. He has led several major transformation projects within supply chain, production and business development, and will assume the position as CEO of EasyMining on 1 October 2026.
