Ragn-Sells has received the Norwegian SIVA Award 2024 for its dedicated efforts to develop sustainable solutions that support the seafood industry in achieving its ambitious growth targets for 2050. With its innovative approach, the company is driving green transformation within the sector while contributing to global food security.

"This recognition motivates us to continue developing sustainable solutions for the aquaculture industry. It shows that our efforts make a real difference, both for the environment and for Norwegian businesses," says Ole Arthur Vaage, Product Development Manager at Ragn-Sells Havbruk.

Ragn-Sells has played a pivotal role in creating new value chains for the treatment and development of sludge from aquaculture, making a significant contribution to the industry’s green transformation.

"This is an outstanding example of how small and medium-sized enterprises can lead green transformation. Ragn-Sells Havbruk has not only developed innovative solutions but also cultivated collaboration with partners and customers across the value chain. They embody the principles of a circular economy in a critical sector for Norway, opening up new export opportunities for Norwegian-made products," says Jan Morten Ertsaas, CEO of SIVA.

The award, which includes a prize of NOK 250,000, was presented by State Secretary Tomas Norvoll from the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Fisheries on behalf of SIVA – the Industrial Development Corporation of Norway – during SIVA’s partner assembly in Bodø.

Jury Motivation:
"Sludge from the aquaculture industry represents a significant environmental challenge that hinders sustainable growth. Ragn-Sells Havbruk has developed innovative technologies for collecting and refining sludge, accelerating green transformation while turning waste into valuable resources. Their efforts strengthen the competitiveness of the entire industry and set a standard for circular solutions in aquaculture."
