Ragn-Sells participates at the UN High-Level Political Forum

The environmental company Ragn-Sells is part of the Swedish delegation to the UN High-Level Political Forum 2023 in New York on 10-19 July. The meeting focuses on the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda and global goals for sustainable development.

– If we are serious about reaching the global sustainable development goals, we have to start using the raw materials we already have, over and over again. We need to increase the pace for the transition to a circular economy, and that requires a whole new attitude towards waste, says Mikael Hedström, CEO at Treatment & Detox Ragn-Sells Sweden.

The UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) is the yearly global follow-up and review of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the global sustainable development goals. This year’s meeting takes place on 10-19 July, with the overarching theme to accelerate the recovery from the pandemic and ensure the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels. Ragn-Sells participates at the HLPF as part of the Swedish delegation.

– About 50 percent of global climate emissions are caused by our way of extracting resources. Therefore, an increased circularity is vital to reach the global goals. We look forward to sharing our knowledge about how raw materials to a much higher degree can be recovered from what today is classified as waste, says Mikael Hedström.

This year’s High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development will review goal 6 on clean water and sanitation, goal 7 on affordable and clean energy, goal 9 on industry, innovation and infrastructure, goal 11 on sustainable cities and communities, and goal 17 on partnerships for the goals. Ragn-Sells participates in the Swedish delegation as a best practice example of how the private sector can create innovative solutions to manage sustainability challenges.
