Environmental company Ragn-Sells will attend the UN climate summit COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The company will highlight the critical role of circular solutions in securing a sustainable food system, focusing on nutrient recycling and advocating for ‘quality over origin’ in global food production.
"To secure food for future generations, we must prioritise circular solutions that recycle key nutrients like phosphorus, rather than relying on virgin materials. At COP29, we will show how these solutions are vital to creating a resilient and sustainable food chain," says Pär Larshans, Chief Sustainability Officer at Ragn-Sells Group.
Ragn-Sells will participate in three key sessions at the Swedish pavilion and during Business Sweden's opening of the Swedish pavilion. These sessions will explore the transformation of wastewater treatment plants into resource plants, highlighting how circular phosphorus flows can strengthen the agriculture and aquaculture industries. This includes addressing how sustainable nutrient recycling from waste can protect vital ecosystems such as the oceans.
Pär Larshans, Chief Sustainability Officer at the environmental company Ragn-Sells
"Phosphorus recycling is a game-changer for global food production. It reduces dependency on finite resources while safeguarding the environment. Our participation at COP29 is about showing that system change is not only necessary, but possible," says Pär Larshans.
By joining the discussion at COP29, Ragn-Sells aims to drive awareness of the urgent need to embrace circular principles, focusing on how to use waste as a resource for the nutrients critical to feeding a growing global population. This approach will be essential in achieving long-term climate goals and securing a sustainable future.
